If you have family or friends in Riviera Beach, here's where the flood response stands. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue evacuated 71 people and nine pets in a nearly 24-hour response that began Monday night, and crews also carried out two medical rescues. City Manager Williams Wilkins said more than 19 inches of rain fell in 12 hours.
In Lone Pine Estates, The Palm Beach Post reported Wednesday that residents there were still trapped, and a ruptured force main had backed up wastewater systems citywide. Commissioner Gregg Weiss said parts of West Palm Beach got over 22 inches, calling it "epic amounts of water."
