If you're driving in Palm Beach County today, check your route first. Between the airport and Palm Beach Gardens, about 18 to 19 inches of rain fell over three days, National Weather Service meteorologist Nico Porcelli said, and floodwaters reached waist-high in some areas.

Parts of West Palm Beach to Palm Beach Gardens got up to a foot overnight, and cars were left abandoned across the Villages area. WPBF lists Tuesday road trouble, where roads may have lane closures or be shut down:

  • Congress Avenue: 1300–2400 blocks
  • Haverhill Road: between 45th Street and Roebuck Road
  • I-95 north off-ramps: to Blue Heron and Gateway boulevards
  • Australian Avenue

The flooding also suspended service between West Palm Beach and Orlando. The county's is at Level 2, and a has been declared, a county statement said.

Flooding forced polling place moves across Palm Beach County on Election Day

If you voted Tuesday, the water may have changed where. The Florida Division of Elections released a list of polling place changes Monday night after flash flooding hit seven counties. WPEC lists moves in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties.

The Florida Division of Elections released the list Monday night.

  • St. Lucie County: 11 changes
  • Brevard County: eight changes
  • Palm Beach County: two changes on Monday night
  • Polls: open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday

By Tuesday afternoon, heavy rain and standing water had forced the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office to move four polling places before or during voting.

Candidate Elizabeth Holmes said the Iron Horse neighborhood in West Palm Beach was “severely underwater.” Officials had moved its site the night before, she said, but conditions worsened and left residents stranded. “That's why early voting is open for two weeks before, and vote-by-mail. Because anything could happen,” Holmes added.
