Want to keep it simple? Stick with quilting cotton. Ready for a challenge? Mix in some vinyl or denim for a sturdier, more structured finish.

Along the way, you’ll also learn how to use double fold elastic as a binding. Unlike traditional binding, which requires cutting and folding fabric to size, double fold elastic comes premade in the exact shape and width you need — no prep work required. It’s a simple swap that makes finishing your edges quick and hassle-free.

The sample project blends clear vinyl, printed vinyl, and quilting cotton for a fun mix of transparency, pattern, and texture — so you can see what’s inside at a glance while adding a pop of personality.
