Before TikTok, Instagram Reels, and endless scrolling, skateboarders were creating full-length films that defined generations of skate culture. But what does it actually take to turn a collection of skate clips into a film that tells a story?

Join Surf Skate Science for a special behind-the-scenes workshop with a local skate film director and producer who created his own full-length skate film while still in high school!

From the first trick to the final credits, we'll explore:

• The Intro: How to grab your audience's attention and set the tone.

• Skater Parts: Building individual montages that showcase personality, style, and progression.

• Friends & Bails: Why the funny moments, failed tricks, and friendships are just as important as the makes.

• Filming & Editing: How music, camera angles, sequencing, and creative decisions bring a skate film to life.

• The Final Cut: Turning hours of footage into a complete film that people actually want to watch.

Our guest wants to inspire the next generation to rediscover the creativity, collaboration, patience, and storytelling behind traditional skate films. You don't need expensive equipment or a professional production crew. Just a camera (or even a smart phone), some friends, a little imagination, and a story worth telling.
